Airial photos for scouting?

Has anyone found a reliable and recently updated airial photo site lately? I tried google earth but where I want to check out has horrible photos.

terraserver sometimes ( think that one costs you though)

I had antoher one suggested to me, but I never used it, so don't remember what it was.  I'll see if I can't find out.  Terraserver is what I used up in Alaska.  VERY accurate.

The two most up-to-date consumer companies offering map products are Google Maps and Live Maps. Google uses Tele Atlas map tiles. MSFT Virtual Earth offers mostly USGS tiles and their own Birdseye photos, the most detail around, but only in certain coverage areas. Their maps clear up and become USGS below 1 mile zoom level. Generally better image detail in more areas.

You can also get current air photos form the DOT office by the Oly airport.  They are very spendy though.

Try Virtual Earth (MS product).  I've found the database of images differs from Google Earth.

I've tried using Google Earth to look at hunting areas, and it's pretty useless.

I have purchased quality aerial images (good enough to discern individual sagebrush) from the WA State Dept of Transportation.  They regulary fly all their highways. If you happen to want imagery within about 1.5 miles of a highway, they probably have images of it. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/mapsdata/aerial/.

What I recieved was about a 10"x10" photo of an area I think was about 2 miles on a side.  Something like that. It was a very crisp image, and very helpful for the mapping I was doing at the time.

It is possible that their coverage is more extensive than I am aware of.  Contact them and see what they have.
